Five state dignitaries posted on official websites their statements on income and property for the year 2011
The Association of Independent Press (API) and Anti-Corruption Alliance (AAC) continue unfolding the campaign “Fortune at sight”, which aims to promote the transparency of state dignitaries’ property and income. During the upcoming period, API shall monitor the observance of Art . 13 of Law no.1264 from 19.07.2002 on the declaration and control of income and property of state dignitaries, judges, prosecutors, public officials and some directors of institutions, Article which foresees the above-mentioned persons’ obligation to make public their statements on income and property on official websites.
Countable days are left for the public officials and other persons subject to Law no.1264 from 19.07.2002 to update their statements on income and property for the last year. Thus, Article 8 of the Law on statement and control of income and property stipulates their obligation to update the statements till January 30 this year. Additionally, Article 13 of the concerned Law foresees that “Statements filed by the President of Republic of Moldova, deputies, Cabinet members, Chairman/Chairwoman of Constitutional Court, Chairman/Chairwoman of the High Court of Justice, General Prosecutor, Chairman/Chairwoman of the Court of Accounts, Governor of National Bank of Moldova, Director of the Intelligence Service, Mayors of towns, villages and Chairmen/Chairwomen of district councils are public, on a yearly basis, in republican or local mass-media, as well as on official websites”.
Five state dignitaries revealed their fortune at sight on the websites of institutions they are currently running. They are:
- Minister of Youth and Sport Ion Cebanu
- Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Octavian Bodişteanu
- Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim
- General Director of Customs Service Tudor Baliţchi
- Director of the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption Viorel Chetraru
The campaign “Fortune at sight” is implemented by the Association of Independent Press (API) and Anti-Corruption Alliance (AAC) in the view of promoting the observance of Law no. 1264 from 19.07.2002 on the declaration and control of income and property of state dignitaries, judges, prosecutors, public officials and some directors of institutions.
